Winter Hacks!
Brrrr! Winter is coming
The arctic chill of the late Autumn breeze is only telling us two things; that Winter is coming, and so is flu season! Now is the time to prepare our immunity as best as we can, so we can hopefully prevent falling sick, or at least, help prevent us getting extremely sick.
Our in-house certified clinical nutritionist Jarred Rabie has suggested some top tips for naturally giving our immune system a good boost.
Go to bed: our immunity is closely tied to sleep, and in fact, poor quality sleep has found to be associated with a higher susceptibility to getting sick. If we have adequate sleep, this will help strengthen our immunity. Also, if we do happen to fall sick, having adequate sleep may allow our immune system to fight off the sickness quicker!
- Nutra Organics Beauty Sleep Hot Chocolate: indulge in a magnesium-infused hot chocolate before bed to help yourself unwind and relax for a good night’s sleep.
Eat lots of wholefoods: eating lots of wholefoods like fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds & legumes are naturally rich in nutrients and antioxidants that may give us an upper hand against harmful pathogens.
- We may be able to deliver fresh fruit & vegetables to your area without you needing to leave the comforts of your own home!
- A sneaky hack to make sure get all the nutrients you need if you don’t have the time to get to Wholefood Merchants or run out of fresh fruit & vegetables is Vital All-In-One Sachets. Simply add a sachet into 200-300ml of water/milk/juice once a day. Disclaimer: do not take whilst on warfarin therapy without medical advice.
Improve your gut health: consuming lots of prebiotics and probiotics may not only help improve our microbiome and our gut health but will also help our immune system. A healthy and flourishing network of gut bacteria may help our immune cells to differentiate between normal & healthy cells to harmful invading cells.
- Quenda Ultimate Fibre is formulated with a combination of premium herbs that are rich in both prebiotic and probiotic fibre that will help make your gut and microbiome very happy! Just add two scoops of Qenda Ultimate Fibre to the liquid of your choice.
Reduce sugar intake: having a diet high in sugar may not only increase the risk of obesity, type-2 diabetes, and heart disease, it may also weaken our immune system. Nowadays it is a lot easier to find no-sugar alternatives that are free of any nasty artificial sweeteners.
- The Funday Strawberry & Cream are not only delicious, but they are free of any sugars, or sugar-alcohols! Disclaimer: you may become addicted like me!
